Chandrababu Naidu gets Bail in Skill Development Case

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, was granted regular bail by the Andhra Pradesh High Court concerning a skill development case. This decision comes following his arrest on September 9 over alleged misappropriation of funds from the Skill Development Corporation during his tenure as Chief Minister in 2015.

Naidu has been on interim bail until November 28 and was earlier granted a four-week interim bail in October on health grounds. His legal representatives cited the need for Naidu to undergo cataract surgery, and the court, considering his health condition, granted temporary bail for the surgery on his right eye. The court imposed certain conditions, including furnishing a bail bond and providing details of the treatment and hospitalization to the authorities upon surrender.

Regarding another case related to FiberNet, involving alleged tender manipulation and a significant loss to the state exchequer, the Andhra Pradesh Police assured the Supreme Court that they would not arrest Naidu until October 18, as his petition regarding the Skill Development Corporation scam was pending.

The Skill Development Corporation case involves accusations of fund misappropriation during the project, resulting in Naidu’s arrest. The Criminal Investigation Department alleged irregularities from the tender process to the project’s completion, causing substantial financial loss.

This recent decision by the High Court grants Naidu temporary relief amidst ongoing legal proceedings. The court’s intervention considering his health condition sheds light on the humanitarian aspect of the legal process.

The case’s developments continue to draw attention amid Naidu’s political stature and the complexity of the allegations against him.
