Nani And Nagarjuna’s Devadas Movie Review
Natural Star Nani and Nagarjuna are back with DevaDas. The duo previous films Krishnarjuna Yudham and Officer were panned at the box-office and critics alike. How this modern DevaDas turns their fate is to be seen. Let us see what the film has to offer.
The plot is about Nagarjuna (Deva), a gritty dreaded gangster who follows suit of Sarath Kumar, raised by him. Quite the contrary is Nani (Das), a simple doctor who is busy in mundane life. But one fine day, Das is kidnapped by Deva’s henchmen to get their boss get treated. And that one course turns Das into a mafia doctor appointed by Deva. The gritty Deva has to face a hurdle from Ajay (Naveen Chandra), son of Sarath Kumar who develops grudge agaist him for being treated unfairly by his father and not making him the kingpin. Rashmika (Pooja) is followed by Das, who is in head-over-heels. And Das who gets moved by the love emotion tried to administer the same to Deva by introducing Akanksha (Janhvi), a doctor herself. Will Deva gets changes after Janhvi’s arrival and does he free Das from his clutches forms the story.
The script is tout but the screenplay is loose. The first half is a laugh riot with hilarious moments between Deva and Das. The bromance between Nagarjuna and Nani is awesome as they pulled it off with conviction. However, things turn topsy turvy after the interval as an unnecessary action looks overboard. The film is loosely inspired by Hollywood film Analyze. The cast, plot everything seems perfect and being bankrolled by Aswini Dutt it has rich production values but falls flat at some places.
Nagarjuna is giving run for mone to young actors. The king of romance, Nagarjuna was easy on the eyes for the role of Deva and was perfect. He made us believe that none could have played the role better than him. While, Nani played the role of Das as sober, but it appeared he had to make effort at certain scenes. Talking about lad actresses, Akanksha and Rashmnika, who had a meaty role in the earlier films – Geetha Govindam and Malii Rava are only eye candy in this. Sadly, filmmaker Sriram Adittya didn’t use their potential to the fullest. So much that Vennela Kishor was also wasted.
