Did NTR Break Rajamouli’s sentiment with Devara’s success?
SS Rajamouli is the only Telugu director who has gained international fame, thanks to his remarkable journey in the film industry. Starting with a TV serial Shanti Nivasam, Rajamouli made a name for himself by directing films like Student Number One, Simhadri, and Yamadonga with NTR as the lead actor. These films were commercially successful and established him as a talented director in Tollywood.
Rajamouli’s next hits, including Vikramarkudu, Magadheera, and Eega, also saw him climbing the ladder of success. However, he remained limited to Tollywood until the release of his magnum opus Baahubali series, a pan-India multi-starrer featuring Prabhas and Rana. This film broke regional barriers and earned him international acclaim.
23 years of MYTH…
Finally it was broken where it all began by the MAN HIMSELF on the SAME DAY again. Growing up watching him closely and now witnessing his wonders is what makes him so special to Telugu cinema. 🙏🏻🙏🏻Absolutely Speechless…

Despite his massive success, Rajamouli has been followed by a negative sentiment in the industry. After actors worked with him, their next films with other directors often failed at the box office. For instance, after Baahubali, Prabhas’ film Saaho didn’t do well. Similarly, after RRR, Ram Charan’s Acharya was a disaster.
This sentiment has haunted many, but NTR seems to have broken the curse with his latest movie Devara. Fans were worried that Devara would flop, as it was NTR’s first film after working with Rajamouli on RRR. Contrary to expectations, Devara opened to positive reviews and is on its way to becoming a blockbuster hit, breaking the long-standing negative sentiment.
Mahesh Babu’s fans, too, are celebrating this success, as the actor is currently working with Rajamouli. There was concern that Mahesh’s next project might suffer from the “Rajamouli curse,” but NTR’s success has eased those fears.
Rajamouli’s son, Karthikeya, confirmed the breaking of the myth in a viral tweet, praising NTR’s achievement and celebrating Devara’s success.
