IKEA First Store In Hyderabad Sees Stampede Situation 

The Swedish retail giant, IKEA, opened its first branch in India in Hyderabad. Much before the opening of the home-furnishing merchandiser and it witnessed serpentine lines, alike to “temple darshan” as mentioned by netizens.  Roughly over 40,000 people came and almost brought a near-stampede situation, that videos which have gone viral. Many netizens are also taking a dig at the videos. Located in Gachibowli, the opening day launch almost brought traffic to a standstill, so much that the Hyderabad traffic police had to issue an alert for people treading on that stretch.

The Swedish retailer out of 27 outlets inaugurated its first in Hyderabad and by 2025 it aims to expand across 1.25 billion people. “I’ve come all the way from Bangalore (575 kilometres, 357 miles away). I am excited to see what’s there,” garment factory employee Krishna Mohan Dixit, 39, who began lining up 90 minutes before the 10 am opening,” said a person.

IT manager Nasrullah Khan said, “We are looking forward to it. Actually, it’s my wife who got me here. Her sister sends a lot Ikea stuff from Dubai. So here we are.”
