Karuna Kumar : There are bold scenes in Metro Stories

Metro Stories has actually been shot in this Covidvirus period and is even gearing up for release. The poster was released recently and we learn the film which is of 1 hour 17 minutes duration is an anthology. All the stories have been written by Khadeer Babu who had worked on Onamalu. The stories have different plots and basically feminist in nature. This marks Palasa director Karuna Kumar’s foray into web media.Since Khadeer Babu’s stories are small, he worked on it, its screenplay and made it apt enough to be called a movie. Revealing the plot of a few to Klapboardpost.com, Karuna Kumar says all the four are set in the city. “One is about a contemporary woman with self confidence, she has specific ideas on how her man ought to be, she thinks independently, believes in having financial independence, knows how to run the house. The next is about a man who ignores his family and the rest is about where his behaviour  leads to. The third is about useless men who get married, don’t work, invest money in different ventures and spoil it, become alcoholic. We meet such people at functions and our relatives don’t respect them. The woman takes the pressure and she is forty five year old.  All the stories are of my liking but my special favourite is ‘Selfie’. There will be bold scenes but it is shot aesthetically.”

Karuna Kumar

Metro Stories is releasing on August 14. Karuna Kumar further states that a city is alive 24 hours but there is darkness in the lives of people. There is one lakh fifty thousand stories in Telugu literature waiting to be told and we don’t need to hunt elsewhere for stories. This film has been specially designed for OTT and structured in such a way that it doesn’t get complaints. There is enough space for narration but this is something that can’t be screened in the theatres. “If I do this for theatre no one will see. Why spend 100 Rs and go to the theatre will be the attitude of people. There is life in this story but no entertainment, people generally don’t go to the big screen to watch tear jerkers. I want to make all kinds of genres, full length entertainers, comedy, serious cinema, village dramas. I have 14 stories with me and I wrote three more recently. With limited equipment and crew I shot this film and after the shoot we all underwent Covid tests. Covidvirus infection is unavoidable, we shall get it some day. It is not dangerous. We shall get it despite precautions and no precautions, but we can’t waste time without working.  Some people see it as an opportunity and plunge into work, some think why should I take a risk, what is the tearing hurry and at the end of the day it is an individual choice.”
