NTR biopic came with a bang and ended up with a whimper. Kathanayakudu was released amid huge hype and Day 1 collections were very high. But, from Day 2, the collections came down and the film, it appears, may not even cross Rs 20 crore mark in the full run.
Due to the pre-release hype, the buyers showed a lot of interest and the film was sold for a whopping Rs 71 crore. But, now the collections are far too below. Now, with the audience looking the other way, the number of screens too has come down. By the first weekend, the film might have to be withdrawn from most screens. Now it is clear that the film may leave the buyers poorer by Rs 50 crore.
Pawan’s Agnyaathavaasi inflicted Rs 60 crore loss on the buyers, Mahesh Babu’s Spyder too caused Rs 55 crore loss. Thus NTR biopic has entered the hall of shame with Rs 50 crore loss. If this is the situation of Kathanayakudu, one shudders to think as to what will happen to the Mahanayakudu, the Part II of the biopic.
