Plot

Sandeep(Adivi Sesh) right from his childhood loves the uniform. He goes against his parent’s will and joins the Indian army and becomes an NSG commando. When he is going through massive issues in his marriage with his wife(Saiee Manjrekar), Sandeep is called to handle the terrorist situation that happen at the Taj hotel on 26/11 in Mumbai. How Sandeep goes all out and saves the lives of many is the story of Major.

Performances

Adivi Sesh has given his career-best with this film. He has gone into the character so much that we do not see anyone else other than the real major in the film. His action blocks and the way he emotes with his wife Saiee are so good to see on screen.

Speaking of Saiee, she too has done an amazing job. Not only does she look beautiful but she also performed like an experienced actress. Prakash Raj and Revathi are amazing as Sesh’s parents in the film. Murali Sharma is also apt in the role of an army head.

Analysis

The story is straight forward and there are no twists and turns in this story of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan is showcased in a way that is understandable to one and all. The same happens in Major as director Sasi Kiran makes sure how special was Sandeep as a kid and how ambitious he was to join the army. This aspect has been brought out well.

The major attraction is the lavish filmmaking and the technical brilliance that the team achieves. The action blocks will leave you thrilled and the manner in which the action is designed is slick and stylish. Upon this, the emotions are so right and leave you teary-eyed in many areas.

The film has its fair share of issues and cinematic liberties have been taken a lot. The role of Mumbai cops is sidelined in the film. Barring that and the slow first half which has the romance part, Major starts talking with the interval bang onwards. From thereon, things get action-packed and make the viewers emotionally charged.

Bottom Line – Highly Engaging
