Nayantara plays visually impaired woman in Korean remake

Blind is a 2011 South Korean drama which is being remade in Tamil as Netrikaram. In the film Nayantara used to be a promising cadet at the police academy but after a horrific car accident which killed her surrogate brother and caused her to lose her eyesight, her police career ended. Nayantara reveals to a detective at the police station that on the night of the hit and run case she was picked up by a taxi cab driver.

Initially, the detective doesn’t take her claims seriously because she is blind, but when she displays her acute senses, the detective starts to believe her. The makers haven’t officially confirmed whether the film is a remake. However, going by the title font in the first look poster which is written in Braille, it’s safe to assume that Nayanthara plays a blind/visually impaired character. In it she gives testimony in a hit-and-run case and is then forced to confront the killer on her own.

Since then Vignesh Shivan has also announced his second production titled Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal also starring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha. In the poster that was released this week, Nayanthara is seen with a bruised face and a wrench in hand. Some unknown person can also be seen in the background.
