THIS Oscar winner to be a major drawback of RC16?

Ram Charan’s latest venture, RC16, made quite the splash during its recent launch, with a flurry of excitement surrounding the event. Esteemed figures from the industry graced the auspicious pooja ceremony, underscoring the project’s significance. The ensemble behind the film comprises a cadre of highly skilled individuals adorned with numerous accolades and honors.

Among the notable names involved is Chandrabose, the wordsmith behind the Oscar-winning hit “Naatu Naatu.” Joining him is cinematographer R. Rathnavelu, renowned for his work in Rangasthalam, while the editing prowess comes courtesy of Antony L. Ruben from Jawan. Contributing to the adrenaline-fueled action sequences is Supreme Sunder, recognized for his choreography in Animal. Avinash Kolla, acclaimed for his art direction in Major, and Deepali Noor, known for her costume designs in Pushpa, round out the talented crew. Steering the ship is director Buchi Babu Sana, whose debut feature Uppena clinched the prestigious Best Telugu-language Film award at India’s National Film Awards.

However, amidst this stellar lineup, there exists a notable weak link in the form of AR Rahman. Despite being a recipient of numerous national and international accolades, including Oscars, Rahman’s recent output has been lackluster. Criticism has mounted against his diminishing creative spark, with lackluster music compositions and forgettable background scores tarnishing his once illustrious reputation. His underwhelming contributions to recent films like Lal Salaam have further fueled concerns about his relevance in today’s music landscape, especially when compared to contemporaries like Anirudh.

Adding to the unease among fans, many of AR Rahman’s Telugu film soundtracks, like those for Nani and Komaram Puli, ended in disasters. Ram Charan’s fans are upset about having this Oscar winner on board for RC16, fearing the sentiment of his past failures in Tollywood.

With expectations running high following the musical success of Buchi Babu Sana’s previous venture, Uppena, the onus is now on Rahman to deliver a soundtrack that captivates and resonates with audiences. RC16 represents a significant opportunity for Rahman to rejuvenate his brand and reaffirm his position as a maestro of music composition. The success of this project hinges on Rahman’s ability to rise to the occasion and deliver a musical masterpiece that elevates RC16 to new heights of cinematic brilliance.
