In such a time, the business has seen so much loss and many single screens in the country have gone out of business. Close to five single-screen theatres in Telugu states have closed business in the last few months. There was a talk that these theatres will be used as godown now.
The rumors are turning out to be true as of now as Amazon, the e-commerce giant has started acquiring some of the single screens in Telanagana and will transform them into godowns. They have offered double the price to the theatre owners to change their screens into godowns. Some of the theatre owners have also said yes to these deals as of now. This is a shocking move from the owners and one of them says that at the end of the day it is about making money and when they are getting double why not change their style of business. As these theatres are located in the heart of the city, Amazon’s idea is to take over them and upgrade their logistics to improve online shopping.
