Sree Vishnu on adapting with the new-normal and staying sane

Y Sunita Chowdhary

Sree Vishnu is missing being on the sets, he finds this long holiday extremely boring just as many other actors do. He was never the type to stay idle or take a gap between two films. If need be, he would go to see his mother for a few days and that would be less than a week and he would return to Hyderabad. Before getting into the movies too, he was always busy doing something or the other and never relaxed until tired.

Last year he was in the USA for a vacation, i.e from December after the release of Tippara Meesam. He speaks about the short break and what is actually in store for him once the lockdown gets lifted and he faces the camera. “I wanted to go on a quick vacation because Raja Raja Chora’ was scheduled to begin this February. I was back and began shooting when the announcement to stay indoors was made.”

He says Chora is a thief. There is a flashback and it is linked to his name. The guy names himself RRC, he is into pilferage, theft. Hasith who worked in Brochevarevarura and Mental Madhilo (he is Vivek Athreya’s brother) is making his debut as the director; He has a command over Telugu and writes songs too.

Ask him how he kept himself busy and he shoots back, “First two months passed away sooner than I realised and we knew it wasn’t in our hands. What else can anyone do other than seeing movies? I guess I finished watching all the films. Picchekipoyindi seeing so many films and some days you just don’t want to see any film. I decided I’ll work out hard and when the lock down didn’t appear to be lifting, I ate well. Then I got worried and began to take control of myself. Another film was to begin in July or August and it is by Sateesh who worked for Satamanam Bhavathi.”

In the meantime, people are approaching him, setting up projects but he thinks it is not right to give a word to anyone at this stage.  Lot of people might be wanting to block the actors, their dates but all of this appears totally illogical. He also has two films that he intends to work on, one is producer Bapi’s and the other is something that he would like to produce.  There are many who are coming with OTT stuff but Sree Vishnu is not inclined to try that as of now. So what films on OTT did he take a liking to? “Kappela, Trance and Helen. Then I watched so many and switched to watching old videos of cricket for escapism.”

The actor has a farm near Shadnagar and he does organic farming. The family supplies eggs to a German company. During the lockdown, he had something to turn his attention towards and recollects those trying weeks in March and April when people got scared and stopped buying eggs. He says, “The price of an egg fell from Rs four to 60 paisa. Only when the Chief Minister in his press meet allayed fears and said eating eggs was healthy..people got back to buying them again. It all happened so suddenly, we didn’t know what to do. The feed for the fowl would come from outstation every week or once in ten days. We just had a stock for a week and all the lorries were stuck in the highway. We were absolutely helpless and didn’t know how to contact drivers etc. It was altogether a new experience that I dealt with.”
