Yatra, depicting the life of Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy, was a resounding success when it hit screens a few years ago. However, its sequel, Yatra 2, positioned as a propaganda film for Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, turned out to be a major disappointment.
Despite an initial push from members of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), the movie failed to resonate with the general audience, leading to its swift rejection. Nara Lokesh, a political figure, seized the opportunity to taunt Jagan over the film’s failure, highlighting the public’s rejection right from the opening shows. Meanwhile, Lokesh comments on Jagan and Yatra 2 are going viral in social media.
According to Lokesh, the Yatra 2 producer faced substantial losses and approached Jagan seeking compensation. However, instead of finding a resolution, Jagan allegedly responded by physically pushing the producer and refusing any assistance. It was at this point that the producer resorted to blackmail, threatening to create another film, “Antima Yatra,” if he wasn’t adequately compensated for the losses incurred by “Yatra.”
In a surprising turn of events, he said Jagan reportedly succumbed to the blackmail, granting valuable lands in Horsley Hills to the Yatra producer. Lokesh criticized this decision, highlighting that Jagan, who himself owns hundreds of acres in Idupulapaya, could have offered a small portion of his own land instead of utilizing government resources.
“We all have seen how big of a disaster this Yatra 2 is. People have rejected the film right from the opening shows. The producer approached Jagan after incurring huge losses. But Jagan vented out at him and pushed him by his neck saying he can’t to anything. This is when the producer blackmailed Jagan that he will do the ‘Antima Yatra’ film if he isn’t compensated for Yatra’s losses. He brought a poster of Antima Yatra to Jagan’s office and shook Jagan. Jagan bowed to the blackmail politics and gave super costly lands in Horsley Hills to Yatra producer. This is the sad state of affairs in the YCP.” Lokesh said. “This same Jagan has hundreds of acres in Idupulapaya and he could have given 2 acres of land to the producer if he needed. But he gave the government’s land in Horsley Hills out of the public’s pocket,”he said.
