Plot

A terrorist played by Mime Gopi readies a drug deal worth crores. He decides to leave the country with the deal’s money and uses a cab driver named Arjun(Aadi) to make things smooth. How will a normal cab driver handles things and save his innocent wife who has been kept hostage by the criminal is the story.

Performances

Aadi is a decent actor and does well in his role. In the second half, where he gets things in hand and the plot changes, he has done a good job. Heroine Riya Suman was neat but the main villain, Mime Gopi was excellent. Brahmaji and Satyam Rajesh were impressive in their roles. Shatru gets a good cop role.

Analysis

Top Gear is supposed to be a solid action film and has loads of thrills. But the thrills are quite limited here. The thrills that are showcased do not create that much panic for the audience or the characters involved. The first half is good but the second half is better and makes some sense.

The cinematography is an advantage to the film. The majority of the action occurs in a taxi racing through the streets of Hyderabad. The night-time panorama of Cyberabad was beautifully captured by the cinematographer. The score is fine and there is only one song. The editing could have been more precise.

The BGM is great but the action could have been even more interesting. There was scope to elevate so much drama but the director did not make use of it. What is shown is passable thrills that do not elevate the interest of the audience much. After a good first half, the film quickly loses its momentum and ends as a dull thriller.

Botttom Line – Nothing great
