MAD movie review Set logic aside and embrace the MAD laughter ride

The youth drama produced by Sithara Entertainment has grabbed everyone’s attention, especially because it features newcomers, including Narne Nithiin, who happens to be NTR Jr’s brother-in-law. Let us find out if this movie can live up to the producers’ claim of being the next Jathi Ratnalu.

Plot :

MAD revolves around the lives of three carefree individuals: Manoj Ram Nithin), Ashok (Narne Nithin), and Damodhar (Sangeeth Shoban). They are students at an engineering college and spend their time engaging in small skirmishes on campus. Manoj develops feelings for Shruthi (played by Gouri Priya), while Jenni (portrayed by Ananthika) is smitten with Ashok. Damodhar, on the other hand, isn’t initially interested in romantic relationships. However, things take a turn when a girl named Vennela begins calling him regularly. The remainder of the film explores the college experiences of these three friends and their love stories.

Performances and Technical aspects

Sangeeth Shoban truly steals the spotlight in this movie. His outstanding comedic performance is the backbone of the film, and he manages to make even the simplest jokes land effectively. On the other hand, Narne Nithiin, who happens to be Jr. NTR’s brother-in-law is the weakest link among the main cast. He lacks screen presence and energy, making him seem out of place in his student character. Ram Nithin, with his charming appearance and good timing in his performance, fares well in his role. With his charming presence, if he chooses the right love stories, he has a good chance of becoming the next lover boy sensation in Tollywood.

The girlfriends of these three actors, Sri Gouri Priya Reddy, Ananathika Sanilkumar, and Gopikaa Udyan, also deliver their roles competently. Additionally, Vishnu deserves recognition for his outstanding narration throughout the entire film, adding another layer of appeal to the movie.

While the songs may not be exceptional, Bheems Ceciroleo has done a commendable job with the background score. The cinematography by Shamdat and Dinesh Krishnan B is crisp, and the production values are impressive. The film maintains a brisk pace, and the editing team deserves praise for their work.

Analysis:

Director Kalyan Shankar, he has handled the film with finesse. As hinted in the trailer, the movie is rich in tongue-in-cheek humor. The dialogues are well-crafted, and the one-liners land effectively. Despite having a thin storyline, the director keeps the audience engaged with clever situational humor.

College dramas always provide a refreshing watch, and Mad will undoubtedly evoke memories of your own college days. The characters are relatable and entertaining, with a strong emphasis on continuous humor, most of which lands successfully. Some sequences are exceptionally well-crafted and will have the audience in stitches. This zany ride wouldn’t have been possible without the talents of Sangeeth Shobhan, Ram Nithin, Narne Nithin, and Vishnu. In particular, Sangeeth Shobhan and Vishnu shine brightly with their impeccable comedic timing. Sangeeth Shobhan’s expressions during phone conversations are priceless, and it’s clear that this young actor has a promising future ahead if he selects his projects wisely.

On the flip side, the songs don’t quite meet the mark and, to some extent, disrupt the film’s flow. As the creators have declared, this is a wild and wacky entertainer, so those anticipating a substantial plot and emotional depth may find themselves disappointed. Additionally, the primary twist towards the end is somewhat predictable. There are a few deliberate use of cuss words, seemingly aimed at the youth audience, but they may prove problematic for certain viewers. The fight sequence doesn’t seamlessly integrate into the storyline and feels overly exaggerated. Additionally, some scenes may evoke memories of older films.

Bottom line : Set logic aside and embrace the MAD laughter ride.
