Prior to Rangasthalam, the fan response to Cherry was at best lukewarm. His films were none too exciting and the fans were unhappy. It looked as if Mega fans were veering towards Bunny, who was churning out variety fare.

But, Cherry realised this sooner than later and tried hard to address the fan discontent. He then gave Dhruva, the story of an angry cop and followed it up with Rangasthalam, a film his fans would be immensely proud of.
More than anything else, it established him as an actor. With this, Cherry fans are back. They are now rooting for him. One only has to look at the kind of response that comes from the crowd whenever his name is spelt in public functions. Cherry needs to follow up Rangasthalam with a similar blockbuster to assure himself of fan adulation for some more time.
