Mega Family is one of the biggest filmi brands ever in Telugu industry. The following and the craze for them is unprecedented. Their market too is very huge. The brand value makes directors and producers make a beeline to them. In fact, the Mega family holds a considerable share in the film industry’s booming business with one or the other Mega hero churning out hit after hit. But, of late, the Mega family seems to be hitting a rough patch.
Pawan Kalyan, who wore the mantle of Chiru, exited from the film industry with three back-to-back flops. His Sardar Gabbar Singh was a flop of the first order. Then came Katamarayudu, whose fate is even worse. The third film – Agnyaathavaasi – is one which both Pawan and director Trivikram want to forget. Cherry too shocked the buyers with Bruce Lee. Though Dhruva and Rangasthalam salvaged the situation a bit, his Vinaya Vidheya Rama was an utter flop. Even Allu Arjun churned out a mega-hit with Naa Peru Surya. Sai Dharam, another Mega hero, is already down in the dumps with six disasters. Varun Tej, Allu Sireesh and Neeharika too have been very inconsistent. Varun Tej’s career has been erratic. His Fidaa was a success, but Antariksham was a flop. Now, F2 is doing well.
It’s about time the Mega family gets its act together and make a turnaround.
