Agent Movie Review Fails to Impress

Agent is a film that is being awaited by one and all. The film has been directed by Surender Reddy and has been released today. Read our review to find out if the film has any juice in it or not.

Plot

Rickey(Akhil) at any cost wants to be a secret agent but he gets rejected thrice. So, he cleverly hacks the system of Raw Chief Devi(Mammootty). Impressed by his tactics, Devil sends Ricky on a special mission to stop God(Dino Morea) from a special mission to destroy India. Will this hyper Agent be successful to stop God? and what issues did he face? That forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Akhil is the only solace of the film. He has done well in his hyperactive role. Be it action sequences or dances, Akhil aces it quite well. Akhil’s fans will love his new avatar. Sakshi Vaidya makes an impressive debut and is amazing. Though her role is limited, she makes a mark. The manner in which Mammootty’s role has been designed is quite good. The star hero dubs in his own voice. Dinor Morea makes a good Telugu debut and is stylish in his role.

What’s Good

Akhil’s role
Action sequences

What’s Bad

Dull Emotions
Lack of grip in the proceedings
Silly Climax
Second Half

Analysis

Agent has lavish visuals and there is no denying that fact. But there is no soul in the film. Akhil is good in his role but sometimes goes overboard. This is probably the story of Agent as director Sunder Reddy goes overboard and aims way too high. So much money is spent on the film which was not needed at all. Agent has a lot of similarities with SRK’s Pathan. There is not much story but the aim is to show Akhil in a solid manner. Surender Reddy does that but the rest goes for a toss.

The second half is a big letdown and has nothing new to showcase. The major conflict point is way too boring. Dino Morea plays the main villain but he acts against India and why he s creating such a war is not showcased properly. A RAW chief trusting an enthusiast for a significant mission itself is a joke. The love track is one patience-tester in the first half, and good that it lasts only for a while.

Music by Hip Hop Thamiza is just about okay. They come in as speed breakers and do not hold your attention except for the dances of Akhil. Every scene is predictable and has nothing new to showcase in the second half. What’s special is that the visuals are lavish and the way the fights are composed is superb. But the sad part is that there is no soul in the film.

Overall, Akhil tries hard to salvage the film and he is decent. But Surender Reddy has made a big mess of Agent and the film is his weakest. He has wasted the money, time, and energy of Akhil, and the young hero’s quest for a proper launch still continues.

Bottom Line – An over-the-top action drama

2 / 5
