Senior Bollywood producer Anil Suri has died after contracting COVID-19 at the age of 77. The producer is known for his films where he bankrolled Raaj Kumar-Rekha starrer Karmayogi and Raaj Tilak, had breathed his last in Mumbai. His brother Rajiv Suri, who is also a producer, has claimed that top hospitals like Lilavati and Hinduja had denied bed and was subsequently taken to the Advanced Multispecialty hospital.

Rajiv said, “He was then taken to Advanced Multispeciality Hospital on Wednesday night. He had COVID-19. On Thursday evening, they said something is amiss and he was put on ventilator. He died around 7:00 pm”. Reportedly, Anil suffered from fever on June 2 and the next day he complained of breathlessness and then was admitted at Advanced Multispecialty hospital on Wednesday. However after putting on ventilator he succumbed on Thursday evening. The final rites took place at Oshiwara cremation ground on Friday with close family members.
Speaking about the demise, Rajiv Suri who had produced Basu Chatterjee’s 1979 film Manzil, said it was devastating to lose his brother and the director on the same day.
