In the upcoming Andhra Pradesh elections of 2024, a notable trend is the participation of descendants of former chief ministers. This trend highlights the legacy and influence of political families in the region. Among the prominent contenders are the descendants of YS Rajasekhar Reddy, popularly known as the YS family. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is contesting from Pulivendula, while his sister YS Sharmila is an MP candidate from Kadapa.

The Nandamuri family, associated with Sr NTR, also has significant representation. Nandamuri Balakrishna, Sr NTR’s son, is contesting from Hindupur, and Daggubati Purandeshwari, his daughter, is contesting for an MP seat from Rajahmundry.

Another noteworthy candidate is Nara Lokesh, the son of Chandrababu Naidu, who is contesting from Mangalagiri. He carries the legacy of both his father and grandfather, Sr NTR, who served as chief ministers. Nadendla Manohar, the son of Nadendla Bhaskar Rao, who briefly held the position of CM, is contesting from Tenali constituency.

Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy’s son, Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy, is contesting as an MLA from Dhone assembly constituency. Similarly, Nedurumalli Ram Kumar Reddy, son of Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy, is contesting from Venkatagiri.

These candidates are vying for significant seats in Andhra Pradesh, reflecting the enduring influence of political families. The outcome of this election will determine the extent of their continued dominance in the state’s political landscape.
