Aravind Kejriwal to run government from jail!

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, has been taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate for a period of six days. Despite this, Kejriwal has made it clear that he will not step down from his position. Instead, he has expressed his intention to continue running the government even from jail if necessary.
In an interview with a popular media channel, Kejriwal stated, “I will not resign as Chief Minister of Delhi. If needed, I will run the government from jail.” He emphasized that whether he is inside jail or outside, the government will continue to function.
The decision to detain Kejriwal came after a three-hour-long hearing in a Delhi court, where the Enforcement Directorate sought custody in connection with the alleged excise policy scam case. The agency accused Kejriwal of being a key conspirator in the case, along with other AAP ministers and party members.
During the hearing, Kejriwal’s lawyer argued against the necessity of his arrest, stating that the power of arrest does not necessarily equate to the need for arrest. However, the court granted custody to the Enforcement Directorate until March 28.
The agency alleges that Kejriwal received kickbacks amounting to several crores of rupees from the ‘South group’ for formulating and implementing the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.
Kejriwal’s arrest marks a significant moment in Indian political history, as it is the first time a sitting Chief Minister has been detained. Despite the legal challenges ahead, Kejriwal remains steadfast in his commitment to continue serving as Chief Minister and ensuring the functioning of the government, even under challenging circumstances.
