The news of CCD founder missing was brought to notice by his driver, Basavaraj Patil. In his statement, he said that they were en route to  Sakleshpur from Bengaluru in a Toyota Innova – a 220-km drive. But the businessman asked him to turn towards Mangaluru. After they neared the bridge he halted the car and the businessman got down fro the vehicle for a walk. He then informed the driver to stop the car other side of the bridge and wait there. As time passed by and he didn’t return, the anxious driver called up the police. “He said he will walk and come… At 8 pm (an hour later) I called him but his phone was (switched) off. Then I called his son and he said he’ll call him too. Later I filed a complaint,” said Mr Patil.

Meanwhile, the businessman in a letter reportedly written to his family before he went missing, he said he had “failed to create the right profitable business model despite my best efforts”. He added, “I would like to say I gave it my all. I am very sorry to let down all the people that put their trust in me. I fought for a long time but today I gave up as I could not take any more pressure from one of the private equity partners forcing me to buy back shares….”

Top politicos like Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa visited the Bengaluru home of BJP leader SM Krishna. Leaders DK Shivakumar and BL Shankar from Mr Krishna’s former party, the Congress, also visited him.
