Dhanush’s Father Takes Legal Action Against Good Bad Ugly
The Tamil film Good Bad Ugly, starring Ajith Kumar, became a big hit when it released in April 2025. It was praised for its action, story, and music. Recently, it started streaming on Netflix. However, the film is now in the news for a legal issue.
Veteran filmmaker Kasthuri Raja, who is also Dhanush’s father, has confirmed that he is taking legal action against the film’s team. He said that the movie used old songs without getting permission from the original creators. This issue was discussed by Kasthuri Raja during the promotions of his own movie Saamakoodangi in Salem.
The songs in question were originally composed by music legend Ilaiyaraaja. His team had already sent a legal notice to the makers for using songs like “Ilamai Idho Idho”, “En Jodi Manja Kuruvi”, and “Oththa Roova” without proper permission. They claimed the songs were changed and used in the film without informing or compensating the composer.
Ilaiyaraaja’s team has asked the makers to pay ₹5 crore, give a written apology, and remove the songs from the film immediately.
In reply, the production company, Mythri Movie Makers, said they followed all legal steps. They claimed that they got permission from the music labels that owned the song rights and had the required documents (NOCs).
This has now become a serious debate in the film industry. Kasthuri Raja also warned young filmmakers not to rely only on old hit songs to gain attention, but to focus on creativity and get proper approvals.
