Trinamool Congress young MPs Nusrat Jahan and Mimi Chakraborty have again created yet another social media sensation. The newly elected MPs are seen dancing to Durga Puja song for a TMT Bar Company. The viral video has so far garnered over 1.56 million views and still counting.
Nusrat Jahan, Mimi Chakraborty dance goes viral
Along with Nusrat and Mimi, another famous Bengali actress Shubhasree Ganguly also danced. The song, titled Ashey Maa Durga Shey, is composed by Indradeep Dasgupta and is choreographed by Baba Yadav. Durga Pooja is a big festival in West Bengal and ahead of the six-day festival, the dance is part of the brand’s campaign for the festival which begins from October 3 to 8 this year.
It is worth mentioning that Nusart and Mimi were once criticised after the pictures of their visit to the parliament clad in western wear went viral. One social media user commented,”Parliament is not a photo studio”, while another user slammed Mimi saying “she is not suitable for the position”. Another comment read, “You should wear some Indian attire in Parliament. You are going for people not for movie promotions. And keep some respect towards your Bengali society.” “Wear sari in Parliament. You look like a tourist there,” one netizen wrote on Nusrat’s image, highlighting the stereotypes attached to women politicians in India. Amidst criticism, Mimi and Nusrat found support from certain people. One user praised Nusrat for her “attitude”.
