In a fun cooking session with her friend Upasana Kamineni Konidela, Samantha prepared oats carrot idlis which is a wholesome and tasty breakfast or snack idea. This recipe is perfect for anyone looking to eat healthy without compromising on taste.
Here is a simple 7-step guide to make Samantha’s oats carrot idli at home:
1. Gather Ingredients
You will need oats, grated carrots, curd (yogurt), salt, mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chili, coriander, and fruit salt or baking soda.
2. Roast the Oats
Dry roast 1 cup of oats in a pan until they turn light brown. Cool them down and grind into a fine powder.
3. Prepare the Batter
In a bowl, mix the oats powder, grated carrot, salt, and curd. Let it rest for about 10 minutes. If the mix feels too thick, add a little water.

4. Add Tempering
In a small pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, chopped curry leaves, and green chili. Pour this tempering into the idli batter.
5. Add Rising Agent
Add 1/2 teaspoon of fruit salt or baking soda just before making the idlis. Mix gently until bubbles appear.
6. Steam the Idlis
Grease idli molds and pour the batter into them. Steam in an idli cooker for 10–12 minutes on medium heat.
7. Serve Hot
Once done, serve the soft and fluffy oats carrot idlis with chutney or sambar.
