Tollywood in Trouble? Here Is What Top Producer Revealed

Tollywood is currently facing many challenges, especially when it comes to bringing audiences back to theatres. Young producer Bunny Vas recently spoke out on social media about these problems. He shared his thoughts about how the film industry is changing and what needs to be done to fix it.

Bunny Vas said that instead of changing the profit-sharing system between producers and exhibitors, everyone should focus on ways to attract more viewers to theatres. One big issue he pointed out is the early release of films on OTT platforms. He mentioned that most films are available for streaming within 28 days of their theatrical release. If this continues, he warned that many single-screen theatres in the Telugu states could shut down in the next 4 to 5 years.

He also urged top stars to make more films. According to him, doing just one film every two years is not helping the industry grow. More films mean more chances to draw audiences and revive the theatre culture.

However, Bunny Vas himself faced criticism after making these comments. People pointed out that his own films have followed the same OTT release pattern. His latest film Single, which was released on May 9th, started streaming on Amazon Prime Video within just three weeks. Other films he produced, such as 18 Pages, Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha, Ambajipeta Marriage Band, Aay, and Thandel, were also quickly made available on streaming platforms.

While many producers talk about saving theatres and delaying OTT releases, there seems to be a lack of unity in the industry. Each producer is doing what works best for their own business without following a common plan.
