Trisha Opens up About Thug Life Trolls
Actress Trisha Krishnan recently opened up about the unfair criticism and trolling she’s been facing after the release of her new movie Thug Life. The film, directed by Mani Ratnam and featuring superstar Kamal Haasan, was released on June 5, 2025. While many people liked the movie, some social media users started trolling and criticizing Trisha’s character, Indrani.
Trisha shared her disappointment over these comments. She said, “I’m really sad and disheartened by the negativity. Some people are comparing my character in Thug Life to real life, or even to scenes from other films, especially Malayalam cinema. This is unfair and ridiculous. This is a movie — I’m acting a role that the script demands.”

The actress also reminded everyone of the immense love and support she received for her role as Kundavai in Mani Ratnam’s previous movie Ponniyin Selvan. That character was well-received by both critics and the audience, adding a huge boost to her career. But now, the trolling for Thug Life is hurting her. Some people are even using derogatory words and spreading negativity online.
Trisha further questioned, “Why do people confuse cinema with real life? The character I played is not me. I was following the script and the instructions from the team. This kind of trolling brings down the spirit of artists. It’s sad that instead of focusing on their work, we have to deal with unfair attacks.”
