Unidentified persons escaped with cash in the cinema theater in Guntur district. The incident reportedly took place at Sri Lakshmi theater in Ponnuru in the Guntur district during the Sankranthi festival.
According to details, the theatre has been running houseful with movies ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ and ‘Waltair Veerayya’ being screened since last Friday. It is learnt that the owner stored the cash in a locker inside the theater since banks have remained closed in the last three days due to Sankranthi festival.
On Tuesday, when the owner opened the locker he was shocked to find it empty. It is learnt that unidentified persons looted the cash. The owner told the police that he stored the cash in the locker since banks were all closed for the last three days.
A case has been registered at the local police station. The police are checking the CCTV footage to trace the culprits.
For the fourth day alone, ‘Waltair Veerayya’ collected Rs 11.42 crores in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. Balayya’s ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ grossed Rs 7.2 crores for the fourth day.
