
Actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi who is ex-wife of filmmaker Shekhar Kapur once joked about marrying director Ram Gopal Varma. However, he took it seriously and got nervous. He immediately called her to his office to convince her against it.
Suchitra shared this incident in her autobiography Drama Queen. She wrote that she jokingly asked Ram Gopal Varma if he would marry her. He was so scared that he asked her to meet him in his office. He wanted to stop her from thinking about marriage.
She sent him a message saying, “Will you marry me?” This made him panic. In her book, she mentioned that he told her he liked women for their looks, not their intelligence.
During an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Suchitra confirmed that her proposal was only a joke. She said no one could seriously think of marrying Ram Gopal Varma. Though she called him a nice man, his reaction to her message made the situation even funnier.
She recalled that he took her words too seriously. He called her to his office and told her she was a good person, but he was not the right man for her. She assured him that it was just a joke.
Suchitra worked with Ram Gopal Varma in films like My Wife’s Murder and Rann. She was married to Shekhar Kapur from 1999 to 2007. Their marriage ended on a bitter note, and she later accused him of being unfaithful.
