These days most Hindi and Telugu superstars prefer to release their big-ticket films on a festive weekend or during a holiday weekend. In a recent interview, Ajay Devgn was asked about Tanhaji release on a non-holiday weekend. Bollywood actor clarified that the release date suits him as there are no releases in the following two weeks. He pointed out, generally, there is a rush on festival seasons, didn’t want to be a part of the rush. When asked about the sentiment that films that release in January don’t do great, he said that earlier January was considered a bad period because people used to say it’s very cold in the winter in the North. Now that belief has changed.
On 19 November official trailer of the film was launched by T-Series, and second on 16th Dec. The ₹150 crore Tanhaji film is scheduled to be theatrically released in 3D on 10 January 2020. Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior is an upcoming Indian Hindi biographical period action film starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Jagapathi Babu and Sharad Kelkar in the lead roles. Directed by Om Raut, the film is set in the 17th century and based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, who was the military leader of King Shivaji, founder of the Maratha Empire.
