Animal movie review: With violence and misogyny written everywhere, Sandeep Reddy focuses on strained relationships

Animal Review

If you are someone who felt that Arjun Reddy is a man full of of flaws, anger management issues and a wrong example to the society, then remember that Ranbir Kapoor in Animal is a high-end version of Arjun Reddy. He’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

If you are someone who liked Arjun Reddy and the intensity it has when it comes to relationships, then you might like Animal upto a certain extent. Because Animal deals with the same amount of intensity or even higher than that.

Animal starts with an elderly version Ranbir Kapoor narrating the story of his life to a bunch of his friends. The narration itself takes us through different phases of his strained relationship with his father Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor). Balbir was never available for his children. But his son, who wanted to name himself as Balbir The Second, always did more than what a son could do for a father.

This son, who is obsessed with his father, right since he was a child, was often disowned by the father and there comes a time when he has to leave the house. Years later, the son returns back home after learning that his father was attacked by goons.

That’s when the audiences actually get to witness Ranvijay Singh (Ranbir Kapoor), the son of Balbir Singh, who can go to any extreme to make sure his dad is hale and healthy. But what if he has to kill others for his father? How many people would he kill? Is he not worried about wife and kids and all that matters is his father? Did Ranvijay turn into an animal? To know what all Ranvijay, can do to save his dad, you got to head to the theatres right away!

Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna’s much-awaited film Animal hit the screens today. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film has Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol playing key roles.

Expectations on this film have been higher right since day 1. The trailer took these expectations to another level.

Ranbir is a finesse actor. No matter how many films he does in a year… every time he’s on the screen, he knows how to capture your attention with his performance. With Animal, once again, Ranbir has proved that he’s the best of the young lot of Hindi actors but is unfortunately underrated.

He’s unbelievably amazing as the Animal. Nobody else could have been a better Animal on the screen. The vibe he carried throughout the film doesn’t go off him even for a second. Rashmika Mandanna actually did a good job in the film. Unlike other directors with whom she’s worked till date, Sandeep made sure he’s got what he wanted from her on screen. Anil Kapoor was at his best and so was Bobby Deol.

Coming to some of the main things to talk about, the casting of the film was perfect!

The film has a lot of blood shed, nudity here and there, a lot of misogyny, illogical scenes, and a lot of exaggeration for love. Well, what else do you expect out of a Sandeep Reddy Vanga film when he clearly said that he will be showing the Hindi audiences what violence means. Which clearly means that this film is for Hindi audiences and the audiences in Telugu have watched it only based on what he made previously!

Some scenes trigger the femininity in all of us. Ranvijay, even after being in bad terms with his father, right since his childhood focuses so much on that relationship, even after knowing that he can never except the same from his father. Meanwhile, he doesn’t really bother about the other relationships in his life. He does everything possible to save his dad from the rivals. One day, Balbir learns that he’s suffering from Cancer and has not more than three months to live. How will Ranvijay save him from death now? What about his wife and children? Are they still with him? Did Ranvijay even think of his son and the example he’s setting?

In short, with a climax that makes its way to a sequel, what else does this Animal have to show the world?
