As per the data by Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University, the number of Coronavirus deaths in the US topped 40,000 by Sunday noon, reaching 40,585. Meanwhile, 742,442 positive cases have been reported. The most affected state was New York with death toll at 18,921 among 242,570 cases.
Other states which were affected were New Jersey with 4,364 fatalities, while Michigan reported 2,308 deaths and Massachusetts recorded 1,560 deaths, the data showed.
