Kangana to get compensation by BMC

Kangana wins this time but not before being cautioned and reprimanded. She was told by the Bombay High Court to exercise restraint while passing comments on the government. On September 9, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished a part of Kangana Ranaut’s office in a bungalow at Pali Hill. The Bollywood actress alleged that the civic body took the step against her for her comments against the Maharashtra government and Shiv Sena leader, CM Uddhav Thackeray. Post this, she filed a petition challenging the demolition activity. Yesterday, the Bombay High Court announced its verdict in Kangana’s favour and quashed the demolition notice.A bench of Justices SJ Kathawalla and RI Chagla observed that Kangana’s building was an existing construction.

Kangana The court concluded that the demolition was ‘nothing but malice in law’. Reacting to the Bombay High Court’s judgement, Kangana tweeted, “When an individual stands against the government and wins, it’s not the victory of the individual but it’s the victory of democracy. Thank you everyone who gave me courage and thanks to those who laughed at my broken dreams. It is only because you play a villain so I can be a HERO.” A bench of Justices SJ Kathawalla and RI Chagla said, “MCGM has proceeded on wrongful grounds against the rights of the citizens. It is nothing but malice in law.” It was further stated that “Court orders compensation against the loss caused to Kangana Ranaut. A valuer has been appointed. Orders reserved on the compensation for after a report is given.” The High Court further said, “The manner in which the action was carried out leaves no doubt that not using Section 354 was more sinister and preventing her from taking a recourse.”
