Mass resignations in Pakistan army raise fears of war after Pahalgam attack
In a surprising development, more than 4,500 Pakistani soldiers and 250 officers have reportedly resigned after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. These mass resignations show growing fear among Pakistani soldiers about a possible war with India.
According to reports, within just two days, many military posts were left empty. This shows how serious the situation is. The 12th Corps, stationed on Pakistan’s western border, was badly affected. Around 200 officers and 600 soldiers left their posts there. Similarly, the Northern Command Area lost over 100 officers and 500 soldiers. The Mangal Corps, which guards the Line of Control (LoC), also reported 75 officers and over 500 soldiers resigning.
Adding to the tension, a letter went viral among army personnel. It claimed that actions by Pakistani militants in Pahalgam had increased the risk of war. The letter urged soldiers to reject fear, stay united, and honor their commitment to defend Pakistan. It reminded the troops of their oath and called for high morale. The letter also mentioned past military successes like Operation Swift Retort and encouraged soldiers to stay battle-ready.
However, critics are blaming Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir, for the current situation. They believe that morale among the soldiers has dropped sharply under his leadership. Many officers and soldiers are reportedly losing confidence in the army’s ability to manage such difficult times.
These resignations come at a very sensitive time for Pakistan. If the army continues to lose soldiers, it could weaken its strength and readiness. This situation is also raising concerns for the entire region, as both India and Pakistan remain on high alert.
