As everyone thought the row over Akshay Kumar’s Canadian citizenship subsided, here comes another big blow to Mr Khiladi. An old video of Akshay has surfaced where he is seen saying that he would settle in Canad after his retirement from the industry. He is heard in the video, “I must tell you one thing, ‘This is my home. Toronto is my home.’ After I retire from this industry, I’m going to come back here and stay here.”
Soon after the video went viral, netizens have roasted Akshay Kumar calling him anti-national to other things. Recently, Akshay was asked the reason about his absence from the polling booth, he averts the question saying, “Chaliye, chaliye.” Earlier, Akshay issued a clarification over his Canadian citizenship staying, “I really don’t understand the unwarranted interest and negativity about my citizenship. I have never hidden or denied that I hold a Canadian passport. It is also equally true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years. I work in Inda, and pay all my taxes in India,” Akshay said in a statement.
He added, “While all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, I find it disappointing that my citizenship issue is constantly dragged into needless controversy, a matter that is personal, legal and non-political, and of no consequence to others. Lastly, I would like to continue contributing in my small way to the causes that I believe in and make India stronger and stronger.”
