Samantha’s Web Series in Trouble?
Popular actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently turned producer and had some success with her film Shaakuntalam, though it didn’t do well in theatres. Now, she is gearing up for the release of her next project Maa Inti Bangaram, where she plays the lead role. But the biggest and most ambitious project in her career right now is the upcoming web series Rakht Brahmand.
This science-fiction horror drama is being made by the famous duo Raj and DK, who earlier created The Family Man. The cast of Rakht Brahmand includes top talents like Aditya Roy Kapur, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ali Fazal. It was planned as a high-budget Netflix project with around ₹200 crore budget.

However, things are not going smoothly. Reports from Bollywood say that Netflix may cancel the project. A major reason is a scam involving one of Netflix’s executive producers, which caused huge financial losses. As a result, the production was paused, and internal audits began.
Also, the script of the show went through many changes, which meant that a lot of the footage shot earlier may not be used. The director, Rahi Anil Barve (famous for Tumbbad), is also said to be stuck in this confusion.
Sources say that Netflix feels further investment in the series may not bring any profit, so they are considering cancellation. However, creators Raj and DK have denied this and said the project is only delayed due to the rainy season. They plan to restart soon with a major action schedule.
But with other actors moving on to new projects and the delay stretching longer, there’s real uncertainty. Fans of Samantha and lovers of horror-thrillers are hoping that Rakht Brahmand does not get cancelled. With its unique storyline and massive budget, it has the potential to be a trendsetter if it sees the light of day.
