Varudu Kaavalenu Movie Review

Varudu Kaavalenu marks the debut of Lakshmi Sowjanya as a director in Telugu cinema. The film is released along with Puri’s Romantic and, read our review to find out if the film has any juice in it or not.

Plot

Bhumi played by Ritu Varma runs her own business and is dead against marriage. On the other hand, Akash played by Naga Shourya lands from Paris and joins Bhumi’s office. He falls for her and even decides to propose to her. But he teases her with a small issue and Bhumi gets upset and moves away from Akash’s life. What aspect did Bhumi not like? Is there a flashback between Bhumi and Akash? All this forms the story.

Performances

Naga Shourya is superb in his role and looks so cool as the posh architect. He is also showcased in the latter part of the film and Shourya holds the screen with his emotional performance.

Ritu Varma is the surprise package as Bhumi. She does so well in a career-defining role and this film can change tides for her career. Ritu not only looks beautiful but also handles her central role so impressively.

Nadia is very good in a fun role. It was good to see Saptagiri in a very happy role after a long time. Himaja evokes good fun. The rest of the cast like Vennela Kishore was not that great.

Analysis

Love Stories are one and the same and this statement was made by director Lakshmi Sowjanya herself. She said that screenplay and character emotions are different in each film. As said, she derives strong characters for all her actor and especially the lead pair.

The film is about falling in love with the same person time and again and this aspect has been handled so nicely. The chemistry between the lead pair is also good and their sensibilities have also been handled nicely.

Ganesh Ravuri’s dialogues make an impact. The visuals are so rich and the way camerawork shows the natural city lights is also very good. The impact of Trivikram is surely there on the film.

Songs have been shot so well and they are also peppy. The film has a lag in several areas but that is nicely covered by songs or comedy in the second half. On paper, Varudu Kaavalenu is a simple story but the way it is handled will surely impress you.

Bottom Line – Elegant and clean Romance
