Conditions look gloomy and unfavourable for Dhanush's 'Sir'

No movie of actor Dhanush clicked well in Telugu as this one did — ‘Raghuvaran B.Tech’. Dhanush was a relatively unknown actor for the Telugu audience when this film swept the Telugu box office in 2014. His movie ‘3’, a sordid love tale of love birds, starring Shruti Haasan was another runaway hit for Dhanush across all languages it was dubbed.

Now after a long gap, Dhanush considered making a straight Telugu film ‘Sir’, in fact, a pan-India film produced by Dil Raju. This Telugu-Tamil bilingual film is directed by Telugu director Venky Atluri. As the film is ready to be released on February 17, the makers held the trailer launch event in the city. Dhanush along with the crew and cast of the film graced the event.

Well, now the focus is on how this film can pull the crowd to theatres in Telugu States. Take the example of ‘Varasudu’ which was also produced and released in theatres by Dil Raju. ‘Varasudu’ wholly banked on the mass image of Tamil Superstar Thalapathy Vijay. Although Telugu audiences doubted its potential initially, the film went on to earn good revenue during the Sankranthi season.

Despite not having any buzz in Telugu, will Dhanush’s ‘Sir’ be able to make any noise? Now, ‘Sir’ has no advantage of the Sankranthi festival. It solely banks on the film’s content. ‘Sir’ is a story about the educational mafia and Dhanush’s dialogues look alright, however, we can’t judge the book by its cover.

The film stars Samyuktha Menon, Dhanush, Tanikella Bharani, Sai Kumar, Samuthirakani, Aadakulam Naren among other actors in key roles.
