Vijay Deverakonda became an overnight sensation thanks to Arjun Reddy. The film was made on a shoestring budget of Rs 4 crore. Asian Movies had bought it for Rs 5.5 crore and raked in huge moolah. The film garnered over Rs 50 crore profit. His Geetha Govindam too was made on Rs 10 crore budget. But it managed to get up to Rs 70 crore through theatrical run alone. Digital, satellite, dubbing and remake rights must have raked in more profits. When Arjun Reddy was made, Vijay was a nobody. But, by Geetha Govindam time, he has gone on to become a top notch hero. In fact, his star status was chiefly responsible for the grand openings the film got.

Though a disaster, NOTA got profits for the producer. Taxiwala too gave huge profits to the producers. But, the question is what was Vijay’s remuneration in these films. Vijay has always maintained that he has not hiked his remuneration because of the career successes. We all thought he was speaking the truth. But, look at the Forbes Celebrity Richest list. He is placed at 72nd position and he shares this position with Ram Charan. This shows his remuneration might be low, but he might be getting a huge share from the fim’s profits.
