Marakkar is Malayalam cinema’s biggest film and has been released today after a delay of two years. Read on to see if the film has any juice in it or not.
Kunjali Marakkar(Mohan Lal) is the man of the masses in the 16th century. He lives in the forest and helps the poor. One fine day, some key kings of the Zamorin dynasty come to Kunjali and seek help to save their kingdom from the deadly Portuguese who invade India. How Kunjali helps them is the crux of Marakkar.
Mohan Lal is the main aspect that needs attention. He as the warrior soldier does well and has main footage in the film. Keerthy Suresh is beautiful in the film and plays an able role. Sunil Shetty is also good along with Arjun, Ashok Selvan, and Prabhu. The rest of the cast are Malayalam actors and they are fine.
Marakkar is director Priyadarshan’s dream project and has been in the making for three years now. He takes up a story that is quite real in the history of Kerala and adds fictional elements to it. Also, he has chosen a key team and they give the film a cute and fresh face.
The art director Sabu Cyril is the unsung hero of the film and he gives the sets an amazing look. But the second half is where the film goes down. It is the latter part of the film which is filled with forced scenes and drama. Upon this, the three-hour length is also not that great.
The film is made in such a way that it has visuals in a grand manner. Give this film a chance only for this reason but once you start watching it, be ready for the bumpy ride.
Bottom Line – Only visuals click
