
Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan set for OTT release—Here’s what we know
The Malayalam movie L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal was released in theatres on March 27, 2025. The film is now getting ready for its digital release on April 24, 2025. As fans eagerly wait to watch it online, a major OTT deal has made headlines.
According to reports, the streaming rights of L2: Empuraan have been sold to JioHotstar for a massive Rs 70 crores. This makes it the highest deal ever for a Malayalam film on any OTT platform. In addition to this, the satellite rights of the movie were reportedly bought by Asianet, a Malayalam TV channel, for Rs 30 crores. These figures, while not officially confirmed yet, show how valuable the film has become.
L2: Empuraan is the sequel to the hit movie Lucifer and is the second part of the planned trilogy. The story picks up after Lucifer, showing the troubled political situation in Kerala. The new Chief Minister, Jatin Ramdas, falls into the trap of corruption and joins hands with a strong central political leader. As the state descends into chaos, the public begins to hope for the return of Stephen Nedumpally, played by Mohanlal.
The film also reveals more about Zayeed Masood’s background and his link to the main storyline. The movie ends with suspense, setting the stage for the next chapter, L3.
