Opinion: Teja’s statement was spot on

Talking to the media, director Teja commented that barring one or two young directors, all those youngsters are ripping Korean, German and Hollywood films. He further said, “Forget about doing a fab job like a copycat but they are below par imitators only. No way I feel threatened because of these youngsters as most of them get a job because a hero wants full control of the project by keeping these youngsters in job”.  Though there are two sides to what Teja said, it is a fact that many short film directors are spending a lot of time watching foreign films and are coming up with a supposedly fresh story. Isn’t that what a senior director Trivikram Srinivas does?

Teja

About short film directors, let us take the example of Sujeeth. After his first film, he was given Saaho.  You know what a monumental crap it turned out to be but he will definitely bag more chances because he is close to the hero and his banner.  George Reddy didn’t seem to collect good money at the box office despite all the hype and media promotion. Instead of analysing and working on why the film didn’t get a unanimous thumbs up, the director got upset and said he wasn’t encouraged as he is from Telangana. If we dig out, we get more examples. Teja has the guts and does talk sense. About senior directors losing their mojo, it is a common phenomenon in all industries.
