SR Kalyanamandapam Review

Kiaran Abbavaram has promoted his film in a big way in the last few days. The film is out now and, read on to see if this film has any juice in it or not.

Plot

Kalyan(Kiran Abbavaram) is at loggerheads with his dad(Sai Kumar) who is not taking care of his ancestral SR Kalyanamandapam. He decides to leave his village and go to the US. But in a tragic turnaround of events, he is forced to take up the duty of bringing back the old charisma of the function. How will he do it and what problems he faces with his father in his journey is the film all about.

Performances

Kiaran Abbavaram is a good performer and he does well in all the emotional scenes. In this film, he had lengthy dialogues to mouth and he did well. But he also does not leave over action and did fights and said mass dialogues just to elevate his image which was bad. Priyanka Jawalkar looks weird but had a good enough role.

Srikanth Iyengar is good as the main villain. But the main highlight of the film was Sai Kumar who had the key role. It was so good to see him as an emotional father and he is the mainstay in the second half. Youtuber Anil Geela was also good in his role of hero’s friend.

Analysis

Not many know that Kiran Abbavaram has himself written the story of the film. He has succeeded as an actor but his writing is very weak. Though the plot he chose was weak and old, he adapted it well amidst a father and son. But the treatment from the director was not that great.

At one point in the first half, all you can understand and see is the hype that is given to the hero and his character. There was no need for this at all and bores the audience to no extent. Also, the manner in which the father-son relation is not highlighted is also one of the dark points of the film.

In all this, the music of the film by Chaitan Bhardwaj was very good. All the songs are canned so nicely. The comedy of the hero’s friend was also good. The emotions in the film are good but they are not utilized well at all which is the biggest dull point of the film.

Finally, had the director been sincere towards the story and had no deviations this film would have been a good watch but it does not falter at the ticketing windows.

Bottom Line – Tries Hard to impress
