This summer, there’s a huge slump. We have not had a single big release this month, which normally brings big profits to the industry. The growing popularity of OTT platforms is adding to the struggles. The producers are worried as many new plans by these platforms are causing financial stress.
Producers are also finding it difficult to get funding for their films. Financiers are not ready to invest, and budgets are growing much faster. Some superstar actors are asking for heavy payments, adding additional pressure. This, alongside corruption on sets and delayed post-production, is further affecting the financial health of many producers.
The number of people going to cinema halls is shrinking, as there’s not much gap between the theatrical release and the OTT release. This makes many producers lose money. Furthermore, several producers have multiple films in production, causing financial chaos and further delaying their release dates.

The industry needs to make a few careful choices to connect with the growing preferences of the audience and bring back its magic once again.
