Film industry wallahs from many corners of the country came together to ask for measures to support movie theatres, earlier on social media today. From Boney Kapoor to Mukesh Mehta to Reliance’s Shibhashish Sarkar to several directors including Karthik Subbaraj to actors Vishnu Manchu, Abhimanyu Dassani, everyone had tweeted their love for the cinemas, conveying their displeasure about the plight of theatres during the pandemic, with the hashtag #SupportMovieTheatres.
The argument being recreation spots, resorts, restaurants, bars, metro trains are given permission to reopen, but why not movie theatres? It’s a valid question because the permission to granted to open air theatres isn’t practical at all in a country that enjoys cinema in a closed environment. Either government needs to announce measures to save theatres or grant the reopening of multiplexes and theatres.
What’s your take on this? Meanwhile, here are the tweets by a few popular names.
