Retro film:
The Tamil film Retro, starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the movie is set to release on May 1, 2025. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given it a UA 16+ rating, and the film has a runtime of 2 hours and 48 minutes.
Retro tells the emotional story of Parivel Kannan, a man in search of his lost love Rukmini. The film follows his journey, the difficulties he faces, and how he tries to reunite with her. It promises a mix of romance and action, making it appealing to a wide audience.
Initially called Suriya 44, the film features a strong cast alongside Suriya and Pooja Hegde. Actors like Joju George, Jayaram, Nassar, Prakash Raj, Karunakaran, and Singampuli play key roles. Actress Shriya Saran also makes a special cameo appearance in the movie.

The music for Retro is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, while the visuals are handled by cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna. Shafique Mohamed Ali is the editor of the film.
Suriya’s last major appearance was in the fantasy film Kanguva where he played a bounty hunter with a mysterious past. Although it was highly awaited, Kanguva didn’t perform well at the box office. Now, all eyes are on Retro to bring back the magic.
Suriya is also working on his next film, Suriya 45 directed by RJ Balaji and co-starring Trisha Krishnan.
