Mahesh Babu questioned by ED over real estate

In a surprising development, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning on April 27, 2025. The ED is currently investigating a money laundering case linked to two Hyderabad-based real estate firms — Sai Surya Developers and the Surana Group.

As per reports, Mahesh Babu had earlier endorsed real estate projects associated with these two companies. He was allegedly paid ₹5.9 crore for these promotions — ₹3.4 crore through official bank transactions and ₹2.5 crore in cash. The ED now suspects that the cash payment could be part of a larger money laundering operation.

The investigation began after several complaints were filed with the Telangana police. The accused companies are said to have cheated many property buyers by selling plots in unauthorized layouts, reselling the same land to multiple people, and making false claims about property registrations. Key people named in the FIR include Narendra Surana from Bhagyanagar Properties Ltd. and K Sathish Chandra Gupta from Sai Surya Developers.

This news has created a buzz both in the film industry and among fans. Mahesh Babu is currently shooting for a highly anticipated action film directed by SS Rajamouli. With this ED notice, there is growing curiosity and concern about how this might affect the film and Mahesh Babu’s public image.

So far, there has been no official statement from Mahesh Babu or his team. It is important to note that he has not been charged with any crime yet. The ED questioning is part of a broader investigation, and the actor’s role may be limited to being a witness or an endorser who unknowingly became linked to the case.
