Telugu States Exhibitors Warn of Theatre Shutdown from June 1
In a major development, theatre owners (exhibitors) from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have taken a strong stand against screening films on a rental basis. A joint meeting was held at the Telugu Film Chamber where 65 exhibitors from both states came together to discuss the current issues in the film industry.
During the meeting, exhibitors clearly stated that they will no longer agree to screen films on rental terms. Instead, they are demanding better cooperation from film producers regarding revenue sharing.
The Telugu Film Chamber has been given the responsibility to inform this decision to the Producers Council and the Producers Guild. The exhibitors are expecting producers to cooperate and come to a mutual agreement that benefits both parties.
However, the exhibitors have also issued a warning. If producers do not respond positively or fail to take their concerns seriously, the exhibitors have decided to shut down cinema theatres in both Telugu states starting from June 1. This decision could have a huge impact on the film industry, especially with several big movie releases expected in the coming months.
