Why Kannappa and Kubera Are Struggling Before Release
The glamour of cinema often hides the struggles that happen behind the scenes. Two upcoming Telugu films Kannappa and Kubera are currently facing several promotional challenges that could affect their success at the box office.
Kannappa: Internal Issues and Public Criticism
Actor Vishnu Manchu’s dream project Kannappa has run into serious troubles. The biggest issue was the alleged theft of key VFX scenes. A police complaint was filed, and there were even accusations of sabotage from within the team. Vishnu Manchu hinted that someone related to his own family might be involved, which has raised questions about internal unity.
Another concern is that director Mukesh Kumar Singh has been missing from all promotional events. Vishnu has taken the lead in promotions, talking about the film’s big stars like Prabhas and Akshay Kumar. However, this has made people wonder about the director’s role and the creative direction of the film.
The film has also faced backlash for some controversial content. Objections were raised over how the main character and Lord Shiva are portrayed, including religious concerns from Brahmin groups. In addition, the repeated postponements due to VFX delays and the recent cancellation of the trailer launch (due to a plane crash tragedy) have disrupted the film’s momentum.
Kubera: Fan Reactions and Streaming Pressure
Kubera, directed by Sekhar Kammula and starring Dhanush and Nagarjuna, is also facing its own issues. OTT platforms have reportedly pressured the team about release schedules, with penalties for delays. This adds extra stress on the production team.
Fans of Dhanush were upset when the first poster showed only Nagarjuna. A new poster was released quickly to calm the situation. However, the damage to fan confidence was already done.
There has also been a title dispute, limited promotions, and complaints about traffic disturbances during filming.
Both films have strong casts and high budgets, but their release is clouded by controversies, delays, and lack of proper promotion. If not managed well, these issues could affect their performance in theaters.
