Upendra Rao’s sci-fi dystopian film UI made a strong impact in theaters when it was released in December 2024. The Kannada-language film was praised for its unique concept and thought-provoking storyline. Now, within a few months of its release, UI is set to stream online, making it accessible to a wider audience.
After a successful theatrical run, UI is now ready for its OTT release on Zee Kannada. The streaming platform announced this through an official post, sharing a teaser clip on its X (formerly Twitter) handle. However, the exact date for its online release has not been revealed yet.
UI delves into the psychological conflict between two central characters, Sathya and Kalki. The movie explores the misuse of power intended for the greater good and how the exploitation of knowledge and technology can lead to catastrophic consequences.
Upendra Rao plays a triple role in the film. Other key actors include Reeshma Nanaiah, Sadhu Kokila, Murali Sharma, Guruprasad, Indrajit Lankesh, and Om Sai Prakash.
UI is both written and directed by Upendra himself, produced under Lahari Films and Venus Entertainments. The film’s music is composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, adding depth to the storytelling.
