Superstar Mahesh Babu’s early career saw the release of Murari, a film that turned out to be a special one for him. Directed by Krishna Vamsi, Murari was produced under the Ram Prasad Arts banner by N. Devi Prasad, Ramalingeswara Rao and Gopi Nandigam. The screenplay was written by the late director Sobhan known for Bobby and Varsham.
When Murari was released on February 17, 2001, there were not many expectations surrounding it. The movie initially opened to mixed reviews, with some audiences labeling it as an average film. However as word of mouth spread, the film gained popularity and eventually became a super hit at the box office.
Despite releasing during an off-season, Murari performed well in theaters. It ran for 100 days in 34 centers and even completed 175 days in three major centers. The film was also re-released later, where it continued to create records. Here is a look at the final worldwide collections:

Murari entered the market with a break-even target of ₹8 crore. Despite its slow start, the film eventually managed to earn ₹12.98 crore in total share, making it a highly profitable venture and a super hit.
